Watching The Watchtower

“The Watchtower And Bible Tract Society”, better known as “Jehovah’s Witnesses”, are an organisation commonly known for being those ‘Christians’ who go from door-to-door distributing magazines and literature largely to do with the ‘end times.’ The purpose of this and any other articles on this organisation is not so much to focus on its origins, though that will be addressed in due time, but rather to get to their teachings on Biblical doctrine.
Who, for example do they say the Person of Christ is? Is the Trinity biblical? The Holy Spirit, “He” or “it”, as they believe? This and many other topics will be looked into using their own sources to see if what they teach is sound theology.
Firstly, a bit of background. I first encountered the ‘J.W’s’ a few years ago when i was searching for the Truth. An old school acquaintance came to my home and shared what they believed to be “the Truth.” After he and his co-Witness finished their piece i asked for their view on John 14:6, where Jesus said He was, “the Way, the Truth and the Life.” “If that is so,” i asked, “where do the J.W’s or any other religion fit in”? After a noticeable pause they said, “Well, Christ has a Body, and the Watchtower are that Body.” I then asked my second question which was,”If Jesus is ‘the one mediator between God and men,’ (1 Timothy 2:5), where does the Watchtower fit in”? Their answer to this day still ‘haunts’ me.”Christ has a Body, we are that Body, if you come to us we place you into the body of Christ.” I did not convert. I am no Albert Einstein but i know ‘ONE’ MEANS ‘ONE.’  And so began my study of this group after my conversion to Christianity, not too long after that encounter.
Are the J.W’s just another Christian denomination as some say? Or are they a cult to be aware of? I shall let their publications answer for themselves.
Matthew 16:13 Now when he had come into the parts of Caes·a·re´a Phi·lip´pi, Jesus went asking his disciples: “Who are men saying the Son of man is?” 14 They said: “Some say John the Baptist, others E·li´jah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them: “YOU, though, who do YOU say I am?”
This then will be THE question to answer, for it is the foundation upon which one stands or falls.
The Watchtower New World Translation will be used primarily in these studies as they declare it to be “the most accurate of all translations.”
